Spin Cycle presents the US Premiere of BLEACH by Dan Ireland-Reeves for limited Off-Broadway engagement. This award-winning underground hit, seen throughout the UK as well as in Paris, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Dublin, makes its US premiere in an intimate, immersive production performed for an audience of 10. Directed by Zack Carey, the site-specific production stars Eamon Yates, David Gow and Brendan George, who share the role of Tyler, a young man trying to find his way while paying the rent in NYC. Audiences are invited to join Tyler at Tyler’s Basement in Bushwick, Brooklyn for this dark and humorous look at sex, violence, and city living.
BLEACH centers on Tyler, a twenty-four-year-old who sells his body on a nightly basis. But on a regular working night, things are about to spiral out of control leaving Tyler questioning whether living in the city is really worth the price of rent.
BLEACH won the Write for the Stage Award for Best New Writing at the Greater Manchester Fringe 2017 and was nominated for both the Pick of the Fringe and Grand Prix awards at Stockholm Fringe. The script is currently available for purchase on Amazon.
BLEACH features lighting and stage management by Jake Lemmenes, costumes and props by Max Ruby, set by Joyce Hahn, and sound by Robert Kent.
Dan Ireland-Reeves (pictured above) is the author of six theater works including Lost & Found, Blaggards, Double Negative, Man Enoughand Jesus Camp The Musical. His works have been seen at venues and Festivals including Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Stockholm Fringe, The London Theatre, Brighton Fringe, Outhouse in Dublin, and Compagnietheater in Amsterdam. Dan trained at Birmingham School of Acting before going on to co-found the critically acclaimed company Exist Theatre with Bethan Francis. As a performer, Dan has been nominated for Best Actor and Best Newcomer at Greater Manchester Fringe and Outstanding Male Performance at International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. He will next be seen in Bleach in London in February, 2019.
Zack Carey’s directing credits include Boylesque (starring RuPaul’s Drag Race star Mimi Imfurst) at The Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Other Me at FringeNYC, and Club Nights at HERE. Regional credits include the Ohio premieres of Wallace Shawn’s The Fever and Keith Curran’s Walking the Dead.
David Gow’s theater credits include Mothers and Sons (Shakespeare & Company), Up the Hill (The O'Neill), Burning Leaves (Duke Theater on 42nd), Chokehold(14th St Y), The Beast's Beauty (Lincoln Center), Where Has Tommy Flowers Gone (Workshop Theater), Peter and the Starcatcher (SPAC), Pirira (Luna Stages). On TV he has appeared on The Good Fight (CBS), and Jon Glaser Loves Gear (truTV). David holds a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Eamon Yates (pictured above) is a gradute of Tisch School of the Arts at New York University; he has been seen in The Ramayan: A Musical at Art House and Northanger Abbey at Main Street Theatre.
Brendan George (pictured above) was last seen in New York in No Sympathy For the Wolf at FringeNYC. At Williamstown Theatre Festival, he appeared in developmental workshops of The Algorithm, directed by Oliver Butler, as well asYellowjacketsby Itamar Moses. He is a graduate of Brown University.
Jake Lemmenes is thrilled to be returning to the NYC theatre scene after a five-year hiatus as the Talent Coordinator at Producer Entertainment Group (PEG), the talent management company for the top contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race. Since its founding in 1998, Spin Cycle has co-produced shows by artists including Joan Rivers, Anthony Rapp, Gavin Creel, Holly Woodlawn, Alison Arngrim, Alec Mapa, Alice Ripley, Karen Finley, and Ain Gordon. Other producing credits include the World Premiere of The Donkey Show, Kiki & Herb’s Obie winning Have Another, The Vaudevillians starring Jinkx Monsoon, John Kelly’s Paved Paradise, and the Rochester premiere of Woman Before A Glass (directed by Austin Pendleton). Current and recent theater PR clients include: 21 seasons with The New York International Fringe Festival, 20 seasons with The Flea Theater (including premieres by A.R Gurney, Elizabeth Swados, Will Eno, Christopher Durang, Adam Rapp and Mac Wellman) and 7 years with P.S. 122 (including premieres by Spalding Gray, John Leguizamo, Elevator Repair Service, and Eric Bogosian), the long-running immersive hit Then She Fell, and theater companies including Partial Comfort, The Civilians, Bedlam, SITI Company, Pig Iron, 3LD, Ars Nova, New Georges, The Culture Project, the cell, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, Amerinda, and Theater Breaking Through Barriers.
BLEACH runs January 4 – March 30, with performances at 7pm & 9pm daily.
