RuPaul’s Drag Race Star favorite Ginger Minj plays John Waters' muse in new cabaret performance.

RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite GINGER MINJ stars as John Waters' muse Divine in the first workshop production of TRULY DIVINE. This new blend of cabaret and biographical play features Minj performing songs originally recorded by Divine. It will be presented at School of the Arts’ Ensemble Theatre (45 Prince Street) as part of the KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival. Long before GINGER MINJ held court as a finalist on Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 2, Ginger reigned as The Comedy Queen of The South from her home base in Orlando, Florida. The drag star cites classic funny ladies Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball as her idols. “Anyone who can pile three wigs on their head, squeeze their body into a beaded and rhinestoned gown and serve humor alongside the glamour is my hero,” says Ginger. That’s why she coined the term “Glamour Toad” to describe her unique persona. Before becoming Ginger Minj, this talented performer was a child actor starring in a series of Christian movies and books on tape, and even won a Best Actor Award for the state of Florida in 2002. She has toured internationally with her solo show Crossdresser for Christ and starred as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in San Antonio's Woodlawn Theatre production of Rocky Horror Picture Show. She was also featured as “Ruby Flare” on the 2nd season of Good Behavior opposite Michelle Dockery. On the big screen, she was recently seen in Miss Arizona with Missi Pyle and Steve Guttenberg and will be featured in Dumplin’ produced by and starring Jennifer Aniston.
