After an acclaimed premiere in 2020 and a sold out return in January 2022, AMERICAN TEEN PRINCESS, Coco Taylor's drag tribute to the cult movie classic Drop Dead Gorgeous, will return the The Laurie Beechman Theatre on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 9:30pm. AMERICAN TEEN PRINCESS tells the story of an annual beauty pageant in small-town Minnesota through a clever mix of dialogue from the film and other sources (including Abba, Britney, Patti LuPone, Madonna, and Sondheim) as well as and an eclectic range of music. Entirely lipsynced, this production will appeal not only to fans of the movie, but also to fans of Toddlers & Tiaras, Miss Congeniality, and Ruthless: The Musical!
AMERICAN TEEN PRINCESS was written by and starrs Coco Taylor (Members Only Boylesque, The Simsinz) with Heidi Haux, Holly Box-Springs, Chola Spears, Aria Derci, and Audrey Phoenix.
Coco Taylor is the kindly and campy den mother of NYC. She is a writer, producer and actress. She has performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre and Caveat NYC in The Simsinz, as a host of Members Only Boylesque and in her own production of American Teen Princess, a Drop Dead Gorgeous drag parody. She performed on the Pridefest Stage at NYC/World Pride 2019, hosted Foxwood Resort and Casino’s first ever Drag Happy Hour and was featured on VH1's Black Ink Crew.
