RuPaul's Drag Race contestant MRS. KASHA DAVIS will return to New York City with her new cabaret show IT TAKES A LOTTA BALLS TO BE A LADY!. Written by Edward Popil and directed by Ralph Meranto with musical direction by Brian Clickner, it will be performed Friday, March 10 at 7pm at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (inside West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street -- at Ninth Avenue). Mrs. Kasha Davis (Edward Popil), a Scranton native, now calls Rochester, NY her hometown. Davis was a contestant on Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, after auditioning for all 7 seasons. Kasha is a theatre gal who most recently played Elizabeth Fuller in Me and Jezebel with Blackfriars Theatre as well as The Mystery of Irma Vep. As her alter ego “Ed” Kasha has appeared with JCC Centerstage as Eddie Ryan in Funny Girl and Roger Debris in The Producers. Kasha Davis appears with the fabulous Aggy Dune in their famale impersonation show THE BIG WIGS, appearing anywhere that calls for a man in a dress, fast costume changes and tons of laughs. Past credits include Off-Off Broadway productions of The Diary of Anne Frank and True West. Brian Clickner is an American Singer, Voice Teacher and Music Director from Rochester, NY. He currently serves on the faculty of State University of New York (Brockport campus) where he teaches Beginning and Advanced Voice Classes and directs the Brockport College-Community Chorus. In addition he has served on the faculty of Roberts Wesleyan College and the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium in Spoleto, Italy. As a singer he has performed in the Rochester, NY area in professional productions of 1776, Forever Plaid, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and the Rink. In addition he has sung on Broadway with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYC) and in Italy as part of the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium. As a Music Director, he has directed over 60 musicals. Favorites include the Sound of Music, Godspell, Rent, Hair, Legally Blonde, Avenue Q, Into the Woods, and most recently Assassins.
Ralph Meranto is completing his 10th Season as Artistic Director and Producer of JCC CenterStage in Rochester, NY where his passion is developing new works including Naked in Encino by Wendy Kout, Our Suburb by Darrah Cloud, the first post-NYMF production of My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding and his own piece, The Hit Factory. Currently he is working with Jason Odell Williams (Handle with Care) on a new play to premiere in 2016. Recent directing credits include Bad Jews, The Last Five Years, Parade and Hairspray at CenterStage and Carter W. Lewis’s Hit-Story at Geva Theatre Center.
